| Hello! I'm Becca Gladden, the
owner of Limelight Writing. I am a professional freelance writer
and author with over 15 years of experience in various writing capacities.
I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education and an Associate of Arts
Degree in Nursing.
I was one of the first female paramedics
in Arizona and have also worked as an ER nurse and supervisor, a medical
transcriptionist, phlebotomist, administrative assistant and marketing
assistant. In college, my answer on a Freshman English exam was published
in a textbook illustrating the ideal way to respond to an essay test question.
My first published article, which appeared
in a parenting magazine in 1995, dealt with creative solutions to being
a work-at-home mom, and my writing career took off from there. For
the past three years, I've been the grant writer for the Challenger
Space Center of Arizona, most recently serving as the key author of
a 2009 $500,000 grant award from STEMAz. I've written numerous press
releases for the Challenger Center as well as business correspondence and
educational curricula. In addition, I have been published in several
Phoenix-area magazines and newspapers, covering a wide variety of news
and feature topics.
Since 2004, I've specialized in NASCAR
as a freelance writer and current member of the National
Motorsports Press Association. I subsequently branched out into
motorsports marketing and public relations, doing freelance and contract
work for organizations such as Activ8
Communications, owned by NASCAR notable Mike Calinoff; Team Full Throttle,
the only driver development program with a direct pipeline to the NASCAR
community; and Victor Pfluger
Racing, featuring Arizona late model driver and 2007 ASA Speed Truck
Champion Victor Pfluger. I recently had a story accepted for publication
in the book anthology, "Chicken Soup for the Soul: NASCAR."
As a writer, I take great pride in the
caliber of my work and will not deliver a finished piece until I am satisfied
with its quality. I have chosen to focus on press release writing
because I enjoy the creative challenge of synthesizing a client's information
into a release that is both concise and captivating.
